The Vanishing Forest

High in the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra, orangutans spend their lives swinging through the trees, rarely touching the ground. These intelligent great apes share about 97% of their DNA with humans, making them one of our closest relatives. Sadly, their forest homes are disappearing due to deforestation, illegal logging, and palm oil plantations. Each fallen tree pushes them closer to extinction. Through conservation, rehabilitation, and public awareness, we can restore the balance of their fragile ecosystem. Protecting orangutans means protecting the forests that sustain countless other species—and the health of our planet itself.

Restoring Balance to the Wild

Orangutan Future Trust is committed to rebuilding what has been lost. Through habitat restoration, rescue initiatives, and sustainable reforestation projects, OFT works tirelessly to heal the damaged rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra. Our teams collaborate with local communities to plant native trees, protect vital ecosystems, and provide safe rehabilitation centers for displaced orangutans. Each effort helps restore the delicate balance between wildlife and environment, ensuring that these incredible apes—and the forests they depend on—can thrive once again.
