Move like you have tasks, follow common paths, and avoid doing anything that makes you stand out too much. The less suspicious you seem, the easier it will be later. One of the most important skills as an Imposter is timing. Don’t rush to eliminate someone the first chance you get. Instead, wait for moments when other players are alone or when the lights are out. Using sabotages wisely—like turning off lights or causing reactor emergencies—can separate Crewmates and create perfect opportunities. Smart timing makes your actions look accidental or hard to trace.
Alibis are powerful tools. Stay near other players sometimes so you can say you were together if something happens. If a meeting is called, speak calmly and confidently. Give simple explanations about where you were. It also helps to remember who was nearby so you can gently shift suspicion if needed without sounding desperate or overly defensive. Sabotage isn’t just for eliminating—it’s also for distraction. Triggering emergencies can pull players away from bodies or important areas. For example, calling a meeting crisis on the opposite side of the map can split the group and cause confusion. The more chaotic the situation, the harder it is for Crewmates to figure out what really happened.
Finally, stay adaptable. Every group plays differently, so pay attention to how others talk and vote. If players are cautious, play more carefully. If they are quick to accuse, use that to your advantage. The best Imposters don’t just cause chaos—they control it quietly and make others doubt each other until it’s too late.
Special Roles
Shapeshifter Imposter
The Shapeshifter Imposter can temporarily take on the appearance of another player, which makes it a powerful role for creating confusion and shifting blame. To use this role effectively, choose moments when players are spread out and avoid transforming in front of cameras or large groups. It’s often smart to shapeshift into someone who is far from your location so suspicion falls on them instead of you. Good timing and awareness are key, because if someone sees you transform or change back, your plan can quickly fall apart.
Viper Imposter
The Viper Imposter is a role that focuses on taking down Crewmates in a way that can catch them off guard. The viper kills crewmates by spraying acid, making their bodies dissolve over time. To use this role effectively, be patient and avoid acting suspicious right after using your ability. Try to stay near others occasionally so you don’t seem isolated, and use chaos or sabotages to distract from when your power takes effect. Smart positioning and calm behavior during meetings will help you avoid suspicion and keep control of the game.
