Kate Martin

Kate Martin is one of my favorite WNBA players because she just plays with so much heart and hustle. I love how she does all the little things that don’t always show up on the stat sheet but make a huge difference for her team. Her journey from being a walk-on at Iowa to making it to the WNBA is so inspiring, and you can tell she truly loves the game every time she steps on the court. She’s tough, unselfish, and always brings great energy—what’s not to love?

My Experience

Favorite Teams

Going to the Chicago Sky vs. Seattle Storm game with my dad was an absolutely unforgettable experience and one of the best days I’ve had in a long time. It was my very first WNBA game, and I had been wanting to go for what felt like forever. From the moment we walked into the arena, I could feel the excitement buzzing in the air—the music playing, the fans cheering, and the sight of the court lit up under the bright lights. I couldn’t stop smiling as the players warmed up; it was surreal to finally see some of my favorite athletes in person after watching them so many times on TV. When the game started, the energy in the crowd exploded. Every basket, every steal, and every fast break had everyone on their feet. I loved hearing the chants and seeing how passionate the fans were—it made me feel like I was part of something bigger. Watching the intensity and skill of both teams up close gave me a whole new appreciation for the game. Sharing that moment with my dad made it even more special; we cheered together, laughed, and celebrated every great play. By the end of the night, my voice was hoarse from cheering so much, but I didn’t care—it was totally worth it. I left the arena feeling inspired and full of excitement, already talking about when we could go to another game. My first WNBA game was everything I hoped it would be and more, and it made me an even bigger fan of women’s basketball than before.

The organization’s vibe, from the branding to the fan experience, just feels modern and empowering. It’s exciting to see them representing the Bay Area and already making a name for themselves in the league.

Las Vegas Aces

The Las Vegas Aces are one of my favorite teams because they play with so much confidence, toughness, and swagger. They’ve built a winning culture that’s all about teamwork, accountability, and having fun while dominating. I love how they balance star power with unselfish play—everyone knows their role, and they play for each other. Plus, their energy, celebrations, and connection with the fans make them one of the most exciting teams to watch in the WNBA.
